Title:Live at Shepherds Bush Empire
Genre:Fusion
Genre:Folk
Description:"With the exception of The Who, Bellowhead are surely one of the best live acts in the country" - The Independent. Live from the Shepherd’s Bush Empire - this DVD was recorded in Autumn 2007. The full gig (17 tracks) in 5.1 surround sound plus over an hour of extras including an "interesting" tour diary and interviews with the band. Few contemporary bands have the kind of chutzpah that 11 piece Bellowhead do. This bigger-than-just-a-big-folk/funk/jazz/burlesque band take on a staggering range of songs and manage them with exceptional enthusiasm and skill. First formed by traditional folk duo, John Spiers & Jon Boden in 2004, whilst stuck in a traffic-jam , Bellowhead quickly grew to become very much a collaborative affair, attracting musicians from a broad range of musical backgrounds. Since their inception, Bellowhead have broken the dance-floors of major festivals, toured the UK, Europe and North America, become Band in Residence at London's South Bank - and have appeared at the BBC Proms (2008) and BBC 2's "Later with Jools". Their ever-expanding fan-base now includes high-profile fans such as the West Coast's Red Hot Chilli Peppers and the Black Country's Frank Skinner. Refreshingly, you'll hear precious few tales of whimsical maidens or sweet stories of love gone wrong on their two albums to date. Instead, live or on record, you'll hurtle along on an exhilarating journey of musical excellence, filled with tales of whiskey and the high-seas. Capture just some of the thrills of a live performance with the release of Bellowhead's first DVD, filmed during one of their sell-out London shows.
